Last Saturday I went to our local grocery shop Supervalu, Glanmire to watch some cookery demonstrations by the Good Food Karma Project. All-Ireland winning Cork Camogie captain and former Cork Rose Anna Geary was one of the demonstrators. Being a camogie player myself I have been a huge fan of Anna on the pitch and have been following her food campaign off the pitch! Training at a high level and keeping fit needs good nutrition. Also we want our food to be fun and exciting which as a good food ambassador Anna gets across. Accompanied by Chef Martin Shanahan, they made a great team. I was talking to Anna and she was very friendly, funny, full of good tips and had plenty of advice on food. She made her recipes look so simple and easy, I felt as if I was in her own kitchen with her.
The Turkey Burgers were absolutely delicious and they are a definite dinner idea for when you want something quick and bursting with flavour but yet still healthy.
The second recipe she made were Oatie Chicken Goujons with Sweet Potato Wedges. Chicken goujons are nornally covered in breadcrumbs, but what I liked about Anna’s recipe is that the chicken was covered with nuts instead of breadcrumbs which gave it a really nice crunchy texture.
